Abstract
Monthly algal samples were collected from fifteen spring sites within the Soran administration region (extending from Haje-Omran to Gali Ali Bag, and Malakan village) between March 2024 and February 2025. to estimate the species composition of non-diatoms algae. Twenty-four taxa of Cyanophyta were identified for the first time in the Iraqi algal flora which included the following such as Nostoc coeruleum, Anabaena iyngarii, Scytonema calcareum, Scytonema fritschii, Scytonema crustaceum, Chroococcus yellowstoninsis, Aphanocapsa planctonica. Gloeotheca confluens, Snowella litoralis, Pseudanabaena kontorta, Pseudanabaena biceps, Limnothrix pseudovacuolata Limnothrix hypolimnica, Leptolyngbya antaractica, Planktolyngbya contorta, Oscillatoria euboeica, Phormidium hamelii, Phormidium bekesiense, Phormidium Gardnen, Phormidium. Favosum, Isocystis pallida, Symploca dubia, Geitlerinema lemmermanii, and Spirulina adriatica. For each species, a brief description and measurement of vegetative and reproductive organs are provided. This study's objective is to identify the Cyanophyta taxa found in the sites under investigation.
